Keep Your Naples Rental Property Safe

Keep Control of Those Keys!

Even the most secure locks can’t keep someone out who has a copy of your rental property’s key. Before you start handing out standard keys and hoping renters don’t just go make copies, make sure to have the proper high-security locks in place that prevent unauthorized key duplication in the first place. Even if you have keys stamped “Do Not Duplicate” I can assure you that many places in Naples will duplicate those keys without batting an eye. For true key control, consider Mul-T-Lock high security coded keys. These patented keys can only be duplicated by authorized locksmith shops and only with proper identification and the key code card that remains in your possession. You and your guests will know that prior guests, renters, housekeepers, or contractors absolutely can’t make a copy of that key. If a key does go missing, it is pretty simple to rekey high security locks and issue a new key to your property. Read More »

Home Squatters Still a Problem for Seasonal Naples Residents

a-locksmith-showroom-5The trend of house squatting is still a problem in southwest Florida, with two Naples squatters behind bars this summer after brazenly entering and living in the vacation homes of seasonal residents. One woman made herself at home, prying through an unsecured garage window and proceeding through an unlocked door between the garage and the home. The woman didn’t just break in to steal a few items, she began living in the home, driving the owner’s vehicle and trashing the house with cigarettes, dirty clothes, and wine glasses strewn about. Another woman broke into an East Naples home and lived there for a week before she was discovered. Like many Naples homeowners, these owners had been out of state for months and now the homeowners are left to pick up the pieces.
